1.1 So What IS a Prompt?

A prompt is simply what you type to an AI. That's it. When you ask ChatGPT "What's the capital of France?", that question is a prompt. When you tell Midjourney to create "a cat wearing a business suit," that's also a prompt. You've probably written hundreds of prompts without knowing they had a fancy name!

1.2 Then What's Prompt Engineering?

Chapter 2: The Four Magic Ingredients

Every great prompt has up to four ingredients. Think of it like a recipe—you don't always need all of them, but knowing what they are helps you cook up better results.
